Our Electronics, Computing & Physics group represents some of the world’s leading tech companies. As one of the largest and most diverse practice groups of its kind in Europe, we are able to field attorneys who have developed expertise in almost any related subject or discipline.

Our experience

Our clients include industry leading tech companies from Europe, the US and Asia.

They include a major upstream oil & gas service company, telecommunications handset and equipment providers, computer software companies, medical equipment manufacturers, computer network and systems providers, consumer electronics manufacturers, defence technology companies, aerospace and avionics manufacturers, robotics and autonomous systems developers, as well as the commercialisation arms of a number of British universities.

Our expertise

The group is headed by Nick Wallin, one of Europe’s leading practitioners in computer implemented inventions. We have former patent office examiners and attorneys with dual qualifications as Patent Attorney Litigators.  Our attorneys’ working languages include French, German and Mandarin, catering for our diverse client base.

Many of us have spent valuable time in industry, working as electronic engineers, research scientists, software engineers, electrical design engineers and process control engineers. In addition, several group members bring insight gained from time as in-house IP counsel at multinational companies.

Our degrees range from physics, either solely or in combination with subjects such as solid state electronics and computing, to electronic and electrical engineering, electronic systems engineering, mechatronics and software engineering. Doctorates and other postgraduate degrees cover varied specialist areas, including machine learning, nuclear magnetic resonance applications, and antenna design.

Wider perspectives

We understand our clients’ business and technological environments through involvement with a wide range of organisations, including the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET), the Institute of Physics (IOP), Cambridge Wireless Network, Silicon South West, Bristol Enterprise Network, South East Health Technologies Alliance, Oxford Alumni, Medi-Wales, Low Carbon Southwest, British Computing Society, West of England Aerospace Forum, Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network, and Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network.
